“When we let [freedom] ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual: Free at l...ast! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!” - MLK

  1. The biggest misunderstanding about Dr. King is that his only concern was for civil rights for black people. A serious study of his life and work shows that, like this quote demonstrates, he worked for freedom for all people. And the freedom he worked for was not just freedom from external oppression but also and especially internal oppression: freedom from the bondage of self.
